What is a stumbling block?
How can we spot a mature Christ centered Christian?
What trait should exemplify the body of Christ?
Please read Romans 14:13-14
Vs. 13 “Therefore let us stop passing judgment on one another. Instead, make up your mind not to put any stumbling block or obstacle in the way of a brother or sister. I am convinced, being fully persuaded in the Lord Jesus, that nothing is unclean in itself. But if anyone regards something as unclean, then for that person it is unclean.”
I have some very bad news for you today- We All Suck!
I have some very good news for you today- We All Suck!
When we try to live the law and Grace we automatically set up stumbling blocks for people. I am no better than the lowest person I can think of in my human mind. Yes that’s right pick the worst possible person you can think of, the most unclean turd floating in this cesspool of humaness and guess what- you are doing the back stroke right there with them. Me I am doing the breast stroke right next to you.
If the person you thought of above can’t walk into your church or what you call a spiritual home and feel 100% welcome and at home- you might be a legalist!
A stumbling block is our judgment of this person. Don’t believe me re-read the above passage, now read it again.
“But they have to change!” Really says who? The Holy Spirit leads the change and I nor you, nor the entire choir in the local church can sit in judgment! One day every knee shall bow and every tongue confess but guess what- that will be to God Almighty!
Here is a meditation for you. Find a time and a place where you probably won’t be disturbed and take several deep breaths, with every exhalation see yourself giving it to Him. Relax the muscles in your jaw-it will help you focus on a beautiful picture. Close your eyes and imagine the worst person or type of person you can imagine. Now see Jesus with His arm around them on one side and His other arm around you. As the three of you walk together do this:
Breathe in and say:
“God let me accept”
Breathe out and say:
“Everyone with Your Love”
Practice this until you understand that we are All equal and equally in need of the Love that you can give and that He gives Freely and without limits!
